The author and artist of a miracle prayer experienced three decades of active substance use with challenges including alcohol and additional controlled substances. At age 17, a mental wellness condition was diagnosed following a self-detoxification attempt and hospitalization in 1983. His periodic inpatient treatments spanned over 14 years in crisis centers until 1997. He experienced several years of inconsistent employment which led to public assistance and 4 years of Social Security Insurance.

By the Grace of God, substance use and mental wellness diagnosis remission have occurred for more than two and a half decades. Successful full-time self-employment as a creative artist as well as a recovery field professional have followed.
